The Plough Inn is conveniently located on the main route between the charming rural town of Kirkby Lonsdale and the larger Lake District destination of Kendal making it an excellent base from which to explore the region with its beautiful lakes and fells.
The cream painted attractive Victorian building has been skilfully extended and designed to provide a stylish venue of contemporary elegance. Historic features such as stone walls, oak beams and floors, mullioned windows and impressive stone fireplaces blend seamlessly with a relaxed mix of furniture and furnishings. There is an abundance of candles throughout creating a wonderfully warm and welcoming atmosphere in which to relax and dine.
The hotel and restaurant have gained an excellent reputation for their first class amenities and top quality food. Ingredients are sourced locally from trusted suppliers and the seasonal menu also caters for those wishing to eat gluten free or vegetarian. The GF options are impressive: Starters include Smoked Salmon Mousse Ballantine or Whole Baked Camembert to Share; for Mains choose from Pan Roasted Pheasant breast, with smoked mash, creamed cabbage, pancetta and a caramel poached pear or the Wild Mushroom Risotto. Steaks are a further option, all served with salad, garlic & herb butter and a choice of chips or fries. For an indulgent GF dessert try Sour Cherry Pavlova with Chantilly Cream or Elderflower Posset. There is also an extensive choice of wines to complement your meal.
