Eric’s Fish and Chips licensed restaurant is located within the grounds of Drove Orchards, a working apple orchard situated in the picturesque village of Thornham on the North Norfolk coast. Within its grounds Drove Orchards has its own renowned farm shop, a number of independent small businesses, eating places and a popular play area. Eric’s award-winning restaurant is another reason to visit this wonderful attraction having gained a wide reputation with locals and visitors alike for the superb quality of its fish and chips. The spacious interior is contemporary and quirky with colourful chequered wall tiles, vibrant yellow and green tables and chairs, and a feature timbered bar/counter. Outside there is a large patio picnic area with umbrellas and even a table tennis table!

A experienced chef for many years Eric and wife Lydia, together with their talented team, have developed an impressive menu providing a modern twist to traditional fish and chips. Premium sustainably sourced fish is cooked freshly to order and complemented by hand cut locally grown potatoes. In addition to traditional favourites are battered sea foods (including scampi, squid and calamari rings), fishcakes and chicken wings plus a selection of tasty side dishes and delicious homemade sauces, all washed down with great beers, wines and refreshments. For something a little different try the wonderful flavour of Halloumi and Spinach Arancini. A children’s menu is also available.

Those with dietary requirements are also well catered for. To avoid cross-contamination for gluten free a separate dedicated fryer uses rapeseed oil and the batter is made with gluten free flour. A delicious vegetarian option is hand-rolled Arancini Balls made with halloumi, spinach and risotto rice. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are always happy to answer questions regarding food preparation and ingredients and advise on menu choice.

The restaurant also has the option to click and collect via the app, as well as offering vouchers which make an ideal gift. The team are keen supporters across the local community with events such as litter clearance on the nearby beaches.

Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden is a hidden gem located in the heart of the beautiful Norfolk Broads and promises a wonderful experience for all the family. There is much to see and do here but no visit would be complete without sampling the delights of the award-winning Kingfisher Tearoom. Open all year round, non-garden visitors are also welcome. A summer speciality is homemade scones served with jam and clotted cream and choice of Fairtrade tea or coffee.

Daily Gluten Free lunch specials include such tempting dishes as Mediterranean Tomato Bake with Basmati Rice, Pea and Mint Soup, and Pasta Bolognese. Among sweet treat options choose from a wide selection of delicious homemade cakes such as Carrot, Chocolate or Marmalade.
