Located close to the magnificent Ely Cathedral is the wonderful hidden gem that is Sophie’s Afternoon Tea and Cakes serving delicious cakes, homemade by Sophie herself, and much more besides. The charming interior is bright, welcoming and cosy and there is a patio and garden area at the front of the tearoom just the spot to relax with a drink and scrumptious treat in the warmer months. It is dog friendly too.
Sophie is a talented and experienced baker who is passionate about catering for dietary needs. Her menus offer an amazing selection of Gluten Free, Vegan and Vegetarian options. Dairy Free is also available and other dietary requests will be accommodated if at all possible. The kitchen team use separate utensils and chopping boards to avoid the risk of cross contamination so Coeliacs especially can enjoy delicious baked sweet and savoury treats worry-free! The friendly and knowledgeable staff are always happy to discuss food preparation and ingredients and advise on menu choice.
A fantastic choice of freshly baked cakes are available daily plus savoury light bites such as paninis with various fillings, sausage rolls (with side salad & crisps), crumpets and teacakes with choice of accompaniments. Gluten Free, Vegan, Vegetarian and other dietary options available here too.
Afternoon teas are a speciality: choose from a simple Cream Tea (two scones with clotted cream & jam plus drink, or the Traditional Afternoon Tea (selection of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream & jam, selection of homemade cakes and a drink of your choice). A Children’s Afternoon Tea is also available providing a selection of finger sandwiches, choice of cakes and a drink. 24 hours advance ordering is required for Afternoon Teas with specific dietary needs.
Seasonally themed cakes and those for special occasions can be ordered in advance and collected from the shop. Simply discuss your requirements and dietary requests with Sophie and her team.
