Superbly located on the quayside in the popular coastal village of Polperro is The Blue Peter Inn, a traditional Cornish pub known locally as ‘The Blue’. Attractively painted in blue and white, this quaint building is full of character with its wooden floors, low beams, panelled walls and open log fireplace all creating a wonderfully cosy and welcoming atmosphere. Tucked into many nooks and crannies located over two floors is a treasure trove of fascinating objects to interest the visitor, including nauticalia, photographs, paintings and crafts by local artists.
It is easy to appreciate why ‘The Blue’ is a multi-award-winning venue. The well stocked bar offers a great selection of real ales and the team of talented chefs have gained a reputation for providing food of the highest quality using fresh, locally sourced ingredients including speciality seafood.
The menus also cater for a range of dietary requirements including those wishing to eat Gluten Free. An exceptional separate GF menu is available and other dishes may be adapted on request. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are more than happy to advise on food preparation and ingredients but when in doubt will always refer queries to the head chef.
GF seafood options include Blue’s Seafood Platter (a tasty medley of Cornish White Crab, King Prawns and White Fish, served with Seasonal Salad & New Potatoes) or Pan Fried Local Scallops with Salad & New Potatoes. For meat lovers try Home-baked Honey Roast Ham & Egg served with New Potatoes and Homemade Pineapple Chutney, or succulent Local Cornish Sirloin Steak cooked to your liking served with New Potatoes, Mushroom, Tomato & Mixed Leaf Salad. A further tempting GF option is a tasty Ploughman’s – choose either Home Roasted Honey & Cider Ham or Trio of Cheese (Cheddar, Brie & Blue Cheese). A daily Specials Board is also available and some dishes may be adapted to suit your requirements.
