Eric’s Fish and Chips licensed restaurant and takeaway is centrally located on the High Street in the charming market town of Holt in North Norfolk. The contemporary interior is bright and spacious with eye-catching chequered wall tiles and comfortable red bench style seats and colourful blue tables. Outside to the front more seating is provided, the ideal spot to relax in warmer weather and watch the world go by. Following the great success of Eric’s first Fish and Chip restaurant in Drove Orchards, Thornham on the North Norfolk coast, in 2019 Eric opened two further Fish and Chip venues, one here in Holt and the other in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire.
A experienced chef for many years Eric and wife Lydia, together with their talented team, have developed an impressive menu providing a modern twist to traditional fish and chips. Premium sustainably sourced fish is cooked freshly to order and complemented by hand cut locally grown chipped potatoes. In addition to traditional favourites are battered sea foods (including scampi, squid and calamari rings), fishcakes and chicken wings plus a selection of tasty side dishes and delicious homemade sauces, all washed down with great beers, wines and refreshments. For something a little different try the wonderful flavour of Halloumi and Spinach Arancini. A children’s menu is also available.
Those with dietary requirements are also well catered for. To avoid cross-contamination for gluten free a separate dedicated fryer uses rapeseed oil and the batter is made with gluten free flour. A delicious vegetarian option is hand-rolled Arancini Balls made with halloumi, spinach and risotto rice. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are always happy to answer questions regarding food preparation and ingredients and advise on menu choice.
The restaurant also has the option to click and collect via the app, as well as offering vouchers which make an ideal gift. The team are keen supporters across the local community with events such as litter clearance on the nearby beaches.
