A warm welcome awaits you at The Countryman, a traditional family-friendly country pub located in the picturesque village of Staverton. Built of attractive mellow stone, the carpeted interior retains such character features as beamed ceilings, exposed brickwork and cosy log burner. Outside there are small seating areas to the front and rear, the ideal spot to relax with a drink during the warmer months. Dogs are welcome and there is convenient disabled access to the pub.
Owners Rob and Susanne Ryan have worked closely with the Head Chef and his team to create a varied lunch and dinner menu containing traditional pub classics as well as dishes with an international twist. Food is lovingly prepared using fresh, locally sourced produce whenever possible and reflects seasonal availability. There is also a regularly changing specials board. The menu offers a great selection of tasty Starters (such as Homemade Soup of the Day, Crab & Crayfish Fishcakes, Thai Spiced Mussels) and Mains (including meat, steaks, poultry & fish dishes). Among Pub Classics are Homemade Beer Battered Cod & Hand Cut Chips, Steak & Ale Pie, Beef Gourmet Burger, Chicken & Bacon Carbonara. There is a choice of Side Orders and a tempting selection of irresistible Desserts too. In addition there is a Children’s Menu, Sunday Roast Lunch (served all day), and Takeaway Fish & Chips are available everyday (6 pm – 9.30 pm).
Dietary requirements are also well catered for and gluten free (g) and vegetarian (v) options are available across much of the menu and clearly marked. An asterisk* denotes that dishes may be adapted for gluten free on request. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are more than happy to answer any questions about preparation and ingredients and advise on menu choice. To accompany your enjoyable dining experience there is an excellent wine list and a range of well kept cask ales.
