About

The delightful Crown Country Inn is a Grade II listed building located in the picturesque village of Munslow. First licensed in 1790, The Crown has been beautifully renovated to provide comfortable Bed and Breakfast accommodation and two superb restaurants. Many original features remain, including Inglenook fireplaces, flagstone floors and wooden beams which create a cosy and welcoming atmosphere in which to relax and dine.

A family run business, resident owners Richard and Jane took over in 2001 and have developed The Crown to a high standard. Their commitment to provide excellent food in beautiful surroundings has been recognised with a number of prestigious awards including

2 AA Rosettes for Food, 4 Star AA Inn Classification, listings in the Good Food Guide and many others. Chef-patron Richard Arnold has previously earned Michelin Awards and is a ‘Masterchef of Great Britain’.

The menus offer a tempting variety of traditional and modern fare, all dishes being freshly prepared and cooked to order. The venue supports the ‘Local to Ludlow’ food group, and source the majority of food locally where possible. Importantly, The Crown is a FODMAP aware establishment. The term is an acronym for: Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols. They are a collection of poorly absorbed simple and complex sugars that are found in a variety of fruits and vegetables and also in milk and wheat. Guests with any allergy or dietary restrictions can be assured that our chefs will be happy to accommodate your requirements as best as possible. It is always advisable to give us advanced notice so we can be better prepared.

The extensive menu offers an impressive choice of starters, main courses and delicious homemade desserts. Just a few examples are Lemon & Chive Risotto with Fresh Bridgnorth Asparagus, and Curried Parsnip Tart topped with Gruyere Cheese &Cashew Nuts with Spiced Mango Chutney. Meat and fish dishes include Our Own Smoked Chicken with Wild Mushrooms, Roasted Cauliflower Puree and Potato Skins, or Griddled Seabass Fillet with Red pepper Chutney and Crispy Polenta Squares. Among the selection of tempting desserts are Orange Panna Cotta, Warm Spiced Carrot Cake and Gin and Lime ‘Cheesecake’. To complement your dining experience why not sample Chef’s selection of cheeses together with an excellent choice of wines, liqueurs and coffees.

“Being coeliac, eating out is always a bit of a gamble so it’s good to add a venue that is completely aware and prepared to adjust most of the items on the menu to make them gluten free. A must visit ” …Gluten Free Dining
