Knighton is a small market town in the lush rolling landscape known as The Marches. Bordering the Welsh county of Powys and Shropshire in England, The George & Dragon is at the heart of this close-knit community and has a fascinating history. Originally a 17th-century coaching inn, the attractive black and white building houses a charming interior that retains many character features including exposed beamed ceilings, mellow stone walls, inglenook fireplaces and aged oak panelling while offering every comfort for the modern day traveller. The old stable block to the rear of the inn has been beautifully converted to offer five delightful en suite bedrooms complete with facilities.
The restaurant has deservedly gained a reputation with locals and visitors alike for its excellent cuisine and is proud to be Wales’ first completely gluten free and dairy free restaurant. The menu also offers vegetarian and vegan options. The head chef and team are passionate about catering for those with dietary requirements and will always endeavour to accommodate special requests. Fresh, seasonal produce is sourced to offer an extensive menu of delicious meat, poultry, fish, seafood, pasta, vegetarian, and vegan dishes, all lovingly created and carefully presented to your table.
