The Red Lion is a gorgeous traditional country pub in the historic and picturesque village of Badlesmere in the beautiful county of Kent. Easily located on the main route between Faversham and Ashford, the building dates from 1546 and retains many character features which make for a truly charming interior. Beamed ceilings, exposed brickwork, stone flags, mellow lighting, log burner and a wealth of copper pots, brasses and interesting bric-a-brac adorning the walls create a wonderfully cosy and relaxing atmosphere. Outside there is an attractive patio and spacious garden with play area, the perfect spot to dine al fresco in the warmer months. Dogs are welcome too.

This popular pub has deservedly gained a reputation for its excellent cuisine but what makes this venue even more special and unique and makes The Red Lion stand out for excellence in Kent is that the menu is 100% gluten free! It is the only 100% Gluten Free Kitchen in Kent. The owners answered customers’ requests for non-gluten options by entirely eliminating gluten and wheat from their state-of-the-art kitchen thereby removing any risk of cross-contamination. Every item on the menu is assuredly Gluten Free which is an absolute heaven for coeliacs. Stunning delicious meals are prepared using fresh, seasonal produce sourced locally whenever possible.

The extensive menu is available throughout the day and detailed allergen information is supplied for each item including vegetarian and vegan. Other dietary requirements can be catered for on request. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are more than happy to answer any questions regarding food preparation and ingredients. Choose from a selection of appetising Starters, Grills, Main meals and irresistible Desserts. A Light Lunch and Children’s Menu is also provided. Sunday Lunch at The Red Lion is not to be missed and meals are accompanied with fresh seasonal vegetables, selection of sauces and homemade GF and DF Yorkshire puddings. A Freehouse, the pub supports local breweries as well as providing a wide range of wines, spirits, beers and ciders.
